National Diversity Forum:
The National Diversity Forum is
comprised of two parts, 1) Opinion
Pieces and 2) the edited transcripts of
Internet Roundtables. Through this
forum, the Alliance’s goal is to build a picture of diversity and
inclusion in the American theatre, from the perspective of those who are
working in theatres throughout America, who are attempting to do so, or who
have a particular expertise to offer.
In this way, we hope to deepen dialogue
through the candid exchange of personal views, share strategies, report on
achievements, identify remaining obstacles, and build an expanding group of
leaders in the field committed to resolving the issues related to racism and
exclusion.

Artist
Files/Online (AFO):
The largest national talent bank of its kind, the Files contain the pictures
and resumes of over 3,300 actors who are African American, Caribbean Black,
Asian Pacific American, Latino, Native American, South Asian, Arab American,
Persian American, Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, low-vision, or who have
mobility and other physical disabilities. We offer two versions of AFO. One is
available on this website and password-protected for the security of the
artists in the files and the other is maintained in binders in our office where
they are available for viewing by appointment. Through these platforms, the
Alliance is pleased to provide the field maximum access to the artists of color
and artists with disabilities represented in our Files.

Resource
Guide - Listening with an Open Eye:
Nine years ago, the Alliance began development of a resource guide for
employers of actors with disabilities to include information on working with
actors with disabilities, information not available elsewhere. Listening with an Open Eye, is intended
to provide background and practical information with respect to working with
Deaf and hard of hearing actors in auditions, rehearsal and performance and is
now accessible worldwide on our website. For the first time, in any format,
there is a comprehensive guide which includes information about Deaf Culture
and American Sign Language; procedure and comportment for planning and
executing a production, covering the entire arc of the audition, rehearsal and
production process; along with the role of the interpreter.
·
Consulting and Information Program:
The Alliance serves as consultants to a variety of organizations, institutions
and individuals regarding diversity and inclusion, covering a range of professional
needs.
·
Roundtables and Resource Evenings:
The purpose of the roundtables is to bring together actors, directors, casting
directors, producers, writers, agents and designers to deepen the dialogue
regarding inclusion through the candid exchange of personal views. The
roundtables serve to create a climate of trust amongst all parties involved, to
bring ongoing attention to the issues surrounding diversity and to build an
expanding group of leaders in the profession committed to resolving these issues.
Discussions are informal, off-the-record and have been highly effective.
